Just wanted to give you a heads up!
Not "Where's Waldo?", but "Where's Willmar". And "What's Willmar"? Willmar, MN, is the home headquarters for Chicken Systems, a small city in west central Minnesota. Most medium-sized cities like Willmar have a special claim to fame, and Willmar is no exception: it is the home to Jennie-O, one of the United States (and the worlds) largest turkey processors. Most people don't know that Minnesota is the largest turkey producing state in America, largely in part to Jennie-O.
Being big baseball fans around here, we were very excited to see Jennie-O as one of the official sponsors of baseball's World Series (and what a Series it was!). But that's not our current "claim to fame".
Every year the President of the United States "pardons" 2 turkeys to give respect to the Thanksgiving holiday. Of course, this is sort of "gobble-in-cheek" to the fact that President has to power to pardon criminals. And its cheesy, but its fun and everyone likes it. This year, the two turkeys were raised in Willmar itself and are currently in transit to Washington, DC for the official pardon. Then they go off to our first Presidents (George Washington's) estate in Virginia to live out the rest of their days.
So, we're turkeys, not chickens. (We get a lot of jokes - and confusion - about who we are around here. ("Uh, we're a software company.") But at least YOU know who we are. We hope!
