mangled, or completely demolished. But in a good way.The SONIQ DEMOLITION DISK
offers three drastically new effect algorithms and works exclusively on the
Ensoniq ASR-10 and EPS-16 PLUS.
They can be used on sounds, on sequences, on audio-in (even on the 16 PLUS) and for re-sampling. The unique and powerful transformations of granular synthesis alone make this disk a must-have for any composer of sonic landscape.
There are three different algorithms on the disk:
GRAIN-STORM (GRANULAR SYNTHESIZER) this algorithm chops an incoming sound into short segments and sprays thousands of droplets across the frequency, time, and stereo spectrum. A simple incoming voice, sound or rhythm turns into a huge swirling cloud of sound grains. Controls allow you to set and modulate the grainsize, pitch center, and spread of the random pitches. Fun to play with too.
PITCH-WARP:this algorithm shifts every frequency in the incoming sound by a differentinterval. Since this warps all harmonic relationships, normal pitched sounds turn into clangorous metallic things. Drums stay punchy, without time-smear or time-compression, over many octaves of pitch shift. Based on the classical analog frequency shifter, but with more stuff to fiddle with.
LO-FIDELITY:Who needs fidelity, clarity, bandwidth, and intelligibility? Add grit,noise, hash and distortion. Great for voice or rhythm loops. Adjustable - from edgy to unrecognizable. LO-FIDELITY is a serial chain of effects: high-pass and low-pass band-limiting; pre-emphasis filter, clipping, dc drift, quantization, and then further band-limiting. Useful presets include TELEPHONE and MIRAGE.
