FAQ
Question: Can't hear sound from the app?
Answer: Right now the app only uses the Primary Sound Driver, you can't select your
driver/output in the app itself (this will change soon). So if you can't hear
anything that may be way. To solve the issue, you can make sure you are
listening on your Primary Sound Driver, or you can change the Primary Sound
Driver.
- Windows: Control Panel-Sounds and Audio Devices-Audio tab
- Mac: System Preferences-Sound applet.
It also could be that you are not holding your click long enough on Windows. Since ASIO is not supported yet, some drivers have a long latency. So hold your click before you release and you may hear the sound. Again, we are addressing this as well.
Question: What are some new features that will appear in the app?
Answer: Here's our current list.
- Support for dragging multiple files into MVKC and spreading them across the pads
- Pad Copy
- A "sound set" concept where you can group several sounds together and import them as one unit. For example, you could have closed/open hat sets, or Tom groups.
- Recycle/ACID/AppleLoop import, where you can spread slices across the Pads and/or put the whole loop on one Pad
- Improved audio engine
- Support for the Audio Engine to more accurately reflect how the MV-8000 plays the sounds
- MV Viewer, where you can quickly look at the contents of a .mv0 file and see the details. You can look at it in terms of all the samples, or via the Samples to see what Partials are enabled.
- Akai MPC import (all disks, and all 5 MPC formats)
- Better support for Chromatic Instruments
- Audio Phrase support
- Ability to launch samples out to an external editor, edit the sample, and return with the new info imported back in
- Lookups (with Keywords) implemented in the Database
- Ability to add or delete user-defined Sound Database categories
- Support for switching of sound cards and MIDI interfaces
- ASIO support on Windows
- Keyboard viewer to assist in Chromatic Instrument creation
- Support for editing Loop information in the SMT tab in the Partial/Patch Editor
- Further Sound Database integration
- Ability to access samples from GigaStudio and SoundFont files
- Improved graphical response on Windows
- More parameters showing on the Main Screen
- Standard MIDI File player, to play the current Instrument
- Multi-Window support, so you can have several Instruments onscreen at once
- Support for changing of MIDI Channel input
- Velocity editable graphs for the SMT Zones
- Better graphics for the LFO tab in the Partial/Patch Editor
- Support for the Sliders on the Main Interface
- Activate the data-entry buttons, up-down-side arrows, Inc-Dec, Value knob, and Enter keys on the Main Interface
- Map for the computer keyboard to send in MIDI notes to the Pads
- MIDI Transpose function
- Better support integrated MV Category ID's and MVKC Types and SubTypes
- Pad templates, where you would say "kick goes here, snare goes here" etc. and access the Sound Database in that way
