EPSm Home Page

EPSm is an extremely handy disk utility that allows you to read/write/format Ensoniq floppy disks and Ensoniq SCSI drives with your MacOS computer. Not only that:
  • Imports Midi files to EPS/16+ sequences
  • Translate 16+ and ASR songs and sequences to Classic
  • Export EPS/16+/ASR sequences and songs to Midi
  • Import and export various sample formats; AIFD, Sound Designer I and II, TX16W and SY85 sampler files
  • Editing of names, banks
  • Read and write individual files to Mac-Hard disk
  • EPS floppy disk data base generation
  • File management of an Ensoniq formatted SCSI hard disk connected to the Mac incuding read/write/delete/move/backup/restore/formatting files and directories
  • Import and export Audio tracks
  • Transfer of files between a Mac and EPS/ASR by floppy disks in several formats....and several other features
  • Also support for TS10/12 data floppies

Important Note: EPSm will not read standard Ensoniq floppy disks, since a Mac cannot read every 10th block from an Ensoniq diskette. Ensoniq's format uses 10 sectors instead of 9, and while the PC can be tricked into reading a 10 sector format, the Mac cannot. The workaround is the creation of what the author generally calls a "B10 image". This is a slightly altered and smaller format that the Ensoniq and the Mac (under EPSm) can read and write to.

Users of EPSm usually take each standard floppy they have and one by one transfer them to the B10 image diskettes (made by EPSm), so they have no hassle in using the diskettes in either location. This is done only by using the Ensoniq itself to transfer the files.

A "B10" floppy comes with EPSm. A B10 cannot be created with a Mac or a EPS; it can only be created by a DOS program called MAKEB10 (included with EPSm package). The ASR-10 can create "B10" type of floppies itself on DSHD floppies as well.

Some comments from EPSm users

The following are letters written spontanously, to the author or to mailing lists.

I have been using EPSm and I think it's a great bit of software! I will be using it mainly to organise and backup the hard disk. It's an essential utility for a Mac and Ensoniq user, and you can stick that in a testimonial if you like.

I use the software daily and thank you for continued support. It's a very usefull program. In fact, when I moved to WinTel, I purchased a used SE/30 just so I could run your program!
Michael
Your software has saved me over USD 1000.
Matt
I like your program and use it to transfer sounds to my asr10. Thank you.

Jordan
If you have a MAC and an ASR, you need EPSm. Happy and holy holidays!

Neil
I'm a registered EPSm user, and let me just tell you now how much I love your program--my copy of Alchemy was a mere shelf ornament until I started using EPSm to transfer to and from my EPS. I've also really jumped into using Csound again, since I can actually get my sounds into the EPS in something less than a decade. It's a great, truly incredible piece of work, EPSm, and worth a heck of a lot more than the shareware fee!

Joe
I not only think it is useful, I think that it's invaluable! :-)

Matt
I'm blown away by your program. It's tied all the pieces together of my system.

Bryan
P.S. EPSm is really a great program!

Mike
Your program is better than sliced bread. Your program is great!! The transfer from Mac to EPS is 500% faster than Alchemy. The sequencer transfer is a timesaver. Thanks for a great package

Jimmy
Your program is a life saver. It works wonderfully.

Dave
