Ensoniq Floppy Set Sale

November 23rd, 2015 - IN THE BEGINNING... there was Rubber Chicken Software Co. We created 5-10-15-disk floppy sets for Ensoniq samplers.

For our holiday sales, we are offering a very limited supply of our floppy sets - which used to a still sell for $30-$40 - for $1.98 each! The reason for this is we've been imaging our entire 10,000 floppy archives so we can recycle the floppies and get them out of our studio (which has less and less room every day). Instead recycling the masters, we're shrink-wrapping them up and practically giving away. So limited supply really is limited supply.

IMPORTANT: this sale has started!! We understand that this will be a little chaotic, maybe like a Black Friday Stampede, but we're not sure of any other way to do it. We will be updating this area as soon as we can.

Additional deals...

Also, all floppy sets - unlimited supply - are 50% off this Thanksgiving weekend! So if you miss out of the one-only limited supply, get your favorite product at a DEEP discount!

Now, here are the RULES...

  • There are only ONE of each set. Once someone buys it, that's it.
  • Each set is $1.98. You can buy as many sets as you want. Shipping costs are calculated per weight, so if you buy multiple sets, that's a good thing. It's not like you pay multiple shipping fees, but the shipping cost does go slightly up as the weight increases. For each order (not set) we add $3.00 handling; this is included in the shipping cost.
  • Since International shipping costs are what they are, this sale is probably a much better deal for United States customers or people that can have these sent to a United States address. There's nothing we can do about that.
  • We will be throwing in various FREE random sample disks in with your order. You won't know what they are until you get them. Remember, we are just getting rid of floppy disks, instead of uselessly sending them to the recycler.
  • 99% of the time the floppies will have what they say are on them. We can't guarantee perfect contents or valid diskettes, but don't worry, these all were imaged so at least they were read very recently successfully.
  • The disks aren't meant to look nice, but they should be pretty okay.
  • There MAY BE some other sets other than Rubber Chicken listed below.
  • If you're interested in how we imaged all 10,000 floppies, we used the Auto-Read feature in Ensoniq MIDI-Disk /Disk Tools. We just sat coding while we'd replace floppies all day. Since Auto-Read doesn't require any mouse- or keyboard- actions, we'd just replace and replace. After a certain amount were done, we'd do a batch rename of the numericals using CKRename and old cheap but effective Windows renaming tool. If you have lots of floppies, you might consider doing this, and then recycling all your floppy disks.
  • Regardless of what Ensoniq sampler you have (EPS, EPS 16-PLUS, and ASR-10), you can order most any set, since any Ensoniq loads any Instrument. The only exception are: 1) An ASR-10 set is always DS/HD floppies that can't be used on the EPS's (but you can use a computer program to move them to a DS/DD if you want), 2) the larger Instruments may exceed your samplers memory, but usually this isn't the case. Also remember that ASR-10 and 16-PLUS sets have effects programmed on them, so if you have an Original EPS, there's no effects and some things may not play right.
  • Also, remember that these are Ensoniq EPS, EPS 16-PLUS, and ASR-10 Instruments. However, there's no reason you can convert them using Chicken System's Translator into any other sampler you use. And, the Ensoniq ASR-X loads these things natively (the translation may be a little funny) and Kurzweil's load these too.
  • Back in the day we made a lot of great Instruments for the EPS, EPS 16-PLUS, and ASR-10. Most every instrument make use of all 4 Patch Selects, and has been programmed to take advantage of modulators like polyphonic aftertouch and the mod wheel.

This is a real fun deal - go back in time and get some floppy disk sets and rediscover your Ensoniq! Any further questions: email us at [email protected] or call us at 320-235-9798 - 800-877-6377.

Most of the sets have been sold, but there are still some left.

Please remember that ASR-10 owners can use any of these sets, and that EPS 16-PLUS owners can use the EPS 16-PLUS and ORIGINAL EPS sets, and that ORIGINAL EPS owners can use the EPS 16-PLUS sets (you just lose the effects and some volumes may be a little off).
