Windows Floppy Image Boot Disks
Use these disks to create an Ensoniq-formatted Operating System floppy disk.
These systems are designed for
all Windows operating systems, even Windows XP.
Instructions for use
- Download file
- Unzip the single .exe file
contained within the Zip file
- Run the .exe file
- Put a DS/HD floppy in your
floppy drive, click the button on the dialog.
- AFter the floppy is wrriten, read the readme.txt file
on that floppy for specific instructions.
- Reboot your machine with
the floppy still in the drive.
- This will boot up your
machine in Win98, and create a RAMDisk
(a virtual disk in memory). (This is done because many
WinXP drives are formatted in "NTFS" - which Win98 cannot
read or write to. Since we are writing a floppy
with this procedure, we have the run the OS-writing
program from somewhere else besides the floppy.)
- The RAMDisk will be drive "K".
- During boot up, the important files should be copied onto this RAMDisk automatically, then the EDE program Tthe program that will write the OS to a new floppy) will run
- If the files do not get copied, simply do it yourself. Type "copy *.* k:\" (without the quotes) and hit ENTER. Then run ede.exe by typing "ede" (without the quotes) and hit ENTER.
- Follow the
prompts to write your preferred OS onto a floppy disk.
