SampleTank Utilities

These are special SampleTank-specific utilities designed to make your life easier. All of these can be performed in bulk, by right-clicking on a folder, or one at a time, by right-clicking on a specific SampleTank .sth file.

If you are doing this in bulk and wish to have it pertain to an entire folder tree, make sure you have Recurse Sub-Folders checked in Options-Destination Locations.

Modify Instruments
Allows you to make certain changes in one or more SampleTank Instruments. Brings up a dialog (shown at the right) that specifies what parameters you what to modify.

Leaving a Text field BLANK in this dialog means you DO NOT want the parameter changed. If you want a field blanked out, then type in "<blank>", without the quotes. Pressing CTL-F5 while in that field also puts that special character in.

Modifiable parameters include Tank Name, Copyright, Effects, Macro Knobs, many parameters, and others.

Connect Presets to Instruments
SampleTank 2 Preset files, with the extension .stip, link to their parent Instruments - that is, that they show underneath that Instrument in the SampleTank browser - by a internal 64-bit ID that cannot be changed by the user. Thus the potential of losing that link is very real, with bad results! This function allows you to link up these files again.

Create/Update Instruments from Presets
Allow new SampleTank 2 instruments to be created or modified based on the information in a Preset modifying the original SampleTank 2 file. This is handy in case you want to hardcode this information into an Instrument, instead of having to access via a Preset.

Update Presets from Instruments
The opposite of Create/Update Instruments from Presets. You can select which parameters get modified in the Preset. Remember, although a Preset only modifies one Instrument, a Instrument can be modified by any number of Presets.

Convert SampleTank 1 to SampleTank 2
There's no presing need to use this function; however, we have noticed that it does clean up SampleTank 1 Instrument's behavior within SampleTank 2.

Convert SampleTank 2 to SampleTank 1
Takes a SampleTank 2 file and converts it into SampleTank 1. There is potential for loss of data here, as SampleTank 2 allows for different Root Keys for each sample in a KeyRange, as well as a couple other parameters.

Copy SampleTank ID
Manually takes the 64-bit SampleTank ID from one SampleTank Instrument and adapts it to another.
