Shell Method
Both Windows and Mac are designed around a GUI (Graphic User Interface). Both platforms run a literal program that is designed for interfacing with the computer. On Windows this is called the Shell; on Mac it is called the Finder. Both Operating Systems have branded names for this; on Windows it is Windows Explorer and on Mac Panther it is called Expose.
(Please note that all Mac references in this method assume OSX 10.3 and higher; that is, Panther, Jaguar, and Leopard.)
Translator™ is integrated into both of these though dragging and right click context menus.
If you drag an appropriate file or any folder (or drive) onto a Translator™ shortcut, program itself, or on the Mac Dock, Translator™ will run without the interface and ask you what you want to conver tthe file to.
You can also right-click on an object and a Context Menu will say "Translator Convert As..." This performs the same function.
Example: You have a folder full of WAVE files and you want to batch convert them into AIFF files.
This method is limited to converting from DOS files to DOS files, and does not involve proprietary drives such as Akai, Emu, etc.
