Roland S-7x to Emagic EXS-24 mkI & II Translation
Status: Implemented in the current version of Translator.
This translation is available on the Windows and Mac versions.
Patches are translated as individual .exs files; Performances are translated simply as collections of Patches.
Translator compensates for the Roland Emphasis Curve that Roland samplers naturally write into their wavedata. For more information, see the Roland Deemphasis section.
Translator supports all Roland S-7x hard drive and CD media, as well as .out file, single and multi-part, Floppy Images created by SDisk. To use .out Images, register them as Virtual Drives. (Translator will only recognize the first part of multi-part .out files.) You then can operate on these just as you would any other Roland drive.
Roland samplers have the capability for alternative looping modes; Translator compensates for these modes.
Bulk translations are available.
The EXS-24 supports Stereo samples - click here for more information.
Translator gives you several options on where to put the translated .exs file(s) and the resulting .wav or AIFF files. Please see the EXS-24/HALion Options tab for more information.
Some translations may have varying results, due to the global nature of most of the EXS-24's cool program parameters. See Translation Comments for more details.
The EXS-24 has a unique way of referencing it's samples (.wav files or AIFF files) from it's .exs control file. Read the instructions on moving PC EXS-24 files to the Mac from the PC for more information if you plan on using Translator for Windows to translate and then move the files to the Mac. This will insure that the files work right when loaded into EXS-24 on the Mac.
