Steinberg
HALion I and II to Emagic EXS-24 mkI & II
Translation
Status: Implemented in the current version of Translator.
This translation is only available on the Windows
version; it will be available on the Mac version shortly.
You can either read the HALion files from a Mac-formatted disk or right from the hard drive, then translate them to the destination format.
Both these formats reference seperate sample files for their sound data. You may have the option of using the original samples for the destination, or you can make duplicates exclusively for the destination format.
HALion 3 files are not generally support as a source format in Translator, due to Steinberg encrypting the files with their dongle. Translator generally does not show HALion 3 files in it's interface. However, if it does and you attempt to convert one, Translator will warn you and reject the conversion.
You can convert HALion 3 files with a little trick, but you must own HALion 3.
KeySwitching and Release Trigger
Support
This format supports keyswitching, which
is a function where pressing a non-sounding key (or a Patch
Select in the case of Ensoniq) instructs the sampler engine to
switch what samples play on what key.
This format also supports other similar features such as release trigger samples, samples manipulated by the sustain pedal, etc.
Since this source format may contain this type of information, it is supported by this destination.
