Remaining ASR-10/88 Operating
Systems Issues
The ASR-10/88 isn't being made
anymore, so we assume that the Operating System development is
closed. No official word has been heard from Ensoniq. The last OS
version was 3.53.
Nevertheless, the job isn't
totally finished - there are still several bugs left. Here's a
run down on some. If you know of anymore, please
contribute them and we'll add them here.
- The EFFECT CONTROL= copy item
that Waveboy alludes to.
- The expanding Song bug -Songs
grow in memory size, and when you go to save them to
disk, they are HUGE (15,000 blocks for example...)
- Error 215 comes up in
relation to Audio Tracks: a) Turn CONFIGURE AUDIO TRACKS:
SOURCE=OFF; b) sequence away, save Song; c) turn off; d)
Turn on, load song; e) record on track, notice that
CONFIGURE AUDIO TRACKS: SOURCE=RAM; f) CONFIGURE AUDIO
TRACKS; SOURCE=OFF; g) Play Song - get Error 215 sometime
into the Song.
- 4) Virtual Button Press
System Exclusive messages are useless, since the ASR
snaps to the EDIT screen upon receipt of them
- When files are written, the
first two bytes of Instrument names are not exactly the
ASCii equivalents (they use the hibyte to
"leverage" it correctly). This will never show
up on the instrument itself, however.
- (general) "Massage"
the sequencer to lessen the Error 129 errors
- (feature, not a bug) Include
Configure Audio Tracks in Global Parameters, so it is
saved upon bootup.
- Stop the ASR from accessing
the floppy drive (if it's set to that) when processing
sys-ex commands
and heck, one for the 16-Plus OS
1.3
- Fix the amount of bars
registered to a Song after translating a Original EPS
Song; they list 0. Workaround: use OS 1.1.
